Staff greet parents and children and ask them to provide information on how their child has been.
Breakfast is available from 07.30 – 08.15
We sit in a circle and sing nursery rhymes, read a story and it ends with a movement game. Circle time provides a time for listening, developing attention span and promoting oral communication.
As a Ofsted registered provider we must follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The EYFS sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. It's objective is to promote teaching and learning through play and games to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’.
At York House Childcare we offer children healthy, nutritious and balanced meals and snacks.
Those responsible for the preparation and handling of food are competent to do so and hold level 2 food handling/safety training.
A healthy two course lunch (i.e. main meal and dessert) is served around 12.00 and is followed by a nap/quiet time.
Play underpins the EYFS. It also underpins learning and all aspects of children’s development. Through play, children develop language skills, their emotions and creativity, social and intellectual skills.
At York House Childcare play takes place both indoors and outdoors.
We provide high quality planned experiences for the children’s play. We observe play and join in when invited and ensure challenging environments that support and extend learning and development are always available.
Tea time is around 15.00 where the children experience another healthy two course meal (e.g. wraps with various fillings, fruit/yoghurt etc.).
We make every effort to make meal times fun and an opportunity to learn. Meals are served family style, so that children can experience the social aspects of meal times, setting the table, talking about the foods they are about to eat and then clearing away after themselves.
